Interview with Mourinho about what you should expect from him as Chelsea Manager

Alex Chick:
Thanks for joining me today. It's been kind of fun.
Alex Chick:
And that is that. Hardly a thriller but hey, he's more than a performing monkey, isn't he?

Alex Chick:
JM: "I know my weaknesses - not many - I try to improve them. And hide them."
Alex Chick:
JM: "If I speak about my weaknesses I have to say I try to improve them. I have to say you don't talk about your weaknesses to your enemy. And my enemy is reading newspapers tomorrow and watching TV. You have to hide your weaknesses from your enemy."

Alex Chick:
Q: What are your weaknesses as a coach?
Alex Chick:
JM says he hasn't come in with preconceived ideas of who he does and doesn't want.

Alex Chick:
JM: "I have to start working with them. Even the players I think I know are not the same. They change. Time changes players.. I need to meet them again. Imagine the others. I think I know them because I watch them on TV 20 times a season minimum. I think I know them but I don't know them. I only know them when I meet them."
Alex Chick:
Q: In which areas are you going to improve the team? A question about transfers!

Alex Chick:
JM: "A football team without the fingerprint of its manager is never a football club."
Alex Chick:
Fan outside saying Mourinho is the man "to bring success back to Chelsea", after they won a trophy in their penultimate game of the season.

Comment From elrick
would you like to buy lewandowski
Alex Chick:
Very tedious answer on Chelsea winning stuff. Box office...

Alex Chick:
HE'S NOT GOING TO SAY WHICH PLAYERS HE'S GOING TO SIGN!!
Comment From Arsenal's n'1 gunner
Who are you planning to buy? And to sell? And release

Comment From abbey
why cant anyone ask him about bale
Alex Chick:
Q: What have been the qualities that have brought success to Chelsea, and why have they struggled in recent seasons?

Alex Chick:
JM: "Both of them (De Bruyne and Lukaku) are ready to be part of the squad."
Alex Chick:
JM: "First I want to meet them. I think it's right that the players are the first ones to know about their future if I make a decision."

Alex Chick:
Q: What are your plans for De Bruyne and Lukaku?
Alex Chick:
Jose Meh-rinho.

Alex Chick:
Because they would be laughed out of the room.
Comment From Andy
Why hasn't there been any questions about Ronaldo joining him!?

Alex Chick:
Another question in Portuguese...
Alex Chick:
JM on buying a Portuguese player: "That's not in my mind."

Alex Chick:
JM: "Ferreira is coming to end of contract, maybe time to think about something else, we will see."
Alex Chick:
Question about Paulo Ferreira - will he stay? Has he thought about not having a Portuguese player?

Alex Chick:
Question in Portuguese...
Alex Chick:
JM: "If he (Wenger) is there it's because he, the club and fans want it. By not winning a major trophy in the last years it shows better how connected (united) they are. It's a great example for a football club. So I'm more than happy." Doesn't answer question.

Alex Chick:
Q: The only team with the same manager as when you left is Arsenal. Can Arsenal push you for title?
Alex Chick:
JM: "We had a fantastic period, we had a mutual decision. No regrets."

Alex Chick:
JM: "I think I answered before." And indeed he did.
Alex Chick:
Q: You say you've changed. Was Abramovich right to let you go the first time?

Alex Chick:
Three of four more questions...
Alex Chick:
JM repeats achievements at Real Madrid - obviously dismissive of criticism from Barcelona and their players. No regrets from time in Madrid.

Alex Chick:
JM: "I 'damaged' Spanish football by being the manager who broke Barcelona's dominance."
Alex Chick:
Q about Iniesta's criticism.

Alex Chick:
Answer is translated but frankly it doesn't bear repeating.
Alex Chick:
JM: "I want to be here. I didn't want to be anywhere else. This is the job I want."

Alex Chick:
Q: Hurt by not getting Man Utd and Man City jobs?
Alex Chick:
JM: First target is top four, then top three, then champion.

Alex Chick:
Slightly dull ramble through Premier League teams. In conclusion: winning the Prem will be hard.
Alex Chick:
JM: "I'm humble. Sometimes it doesn't look like it but I am."

Alex Chick:
Q: Will it be easier to win PL this time?
Alex Chick:
JM: "When I leave a club I don't like to speak about it. And wehn  I arrive I don't talk about what happened before. So not one word about Benitez's decisions." BENITEZ!

Alex Chick:
Q: What do you think of Benitez sidelining Terry?
Alex Chick:
JM: "If somebody has a big status, a big profile, a big career, I cannot give him a privilege. It was simply a pure football decision. I decided on one player and not another... all my decisions are based on meritocracy."

Alex Chick:
JM challenges question, though stops short of denying he fell out with Casillas. Says he merely picks players he thinks deserve to play.
Alex Chick:
Q: What have you learned from difficulties with players in Madrid (Casillas).

Alex Chick:
JM: "The Premier League is a different kind of competition. It is a competition that the best team wins."
Alex Chick:
JM: "Champions League cannot be an obsession for me. I was happy to win it twice and I want to win it a third time. It cannot be an obsession because they won it once and want to win it a second time." Jose 2, Chelsea 1.

Alex Chick:
Much being made on Twitter of the fact he referred to every manager by their first name apart from 'Wenger'.
Alex Chick:
I'm not sure why everyone's so surprised Mourinho's not cracking gags and dancing on tables. He's Chelsea manager. He's not Robin Williams.

Alex Chick:
Well, that *Sycophantic Cackling Klaxon* was a big waste of money...
— Tony Mabert (@TonyMabertESPN) June 10, 2013
Alex Chick:
JM: "Of course the club wants stability. They look and I look..."

Alex Chick:
Q: Four-year contract means club want stability?
Alex Chick:
JM talks about his 'proteges' Steve Clarke, AVB and Brendan Rodgers. Blandly positive words...

Alex Chick:
JM: Moyes has conditions to do well...
Alex Chick:
JM: "I'm still a bit disappointed that I come back and go to Old Trafford and Sir Alex is not there."

Alex Chick:
JM: "Every club has an ambition to add some players to the squad, to add some quality and the competitiveness between them, But now myy main responsibility is the improvement of the boys."
Alex Chick:
JM: "Of course there are still a few boys from my time which is always good to go back and see... people who gave everything to me when I was here. It's important to tell you that there is no prviliege for them. They don't have an advantage compared to the others. After that there is a group of boys Chelsea did very well to get. I'll be very happy to work with them and try to improve them."

Alex Chick:
Q: Are you going to add new players?
Alex Chick:
He had a pretty poisonous relationship with the media in Spain and Italy...

Alex Chick:
JM: "I cannot say which (country's) press I like best... but you are not the worst."
Alex Chick:
The Magellan One.

Alex Chick:
JM: "Yes, and now I'm prepared for that." He then goes off on an odd tangent about Portuguese navigators.
Alex Chick:
Q: "Fergie's just retired after 26 years at Man U. Do you want more stability?"

Alex Chick:
That response brings some laughter, but it's been a million miles from the standard press guffaw-fest.
Alex Chick:
JM: "No. But it's part of my job."

Alex Chick:
Q: "Do you enjoy this part of your job?"
