Lafia Gulf Club captain laments low membership

The Captain of Lafia Gulf club in Nasarawa state, Honourable Michael Ato has enjoined members of the public to develop interest in the game of gulf, stressing the benefits of playing the game.
According to him, gulf reduces tension as well as helps a player to be more organized and focused on and off the pitch, adding that gulf athletes are known for their versatility.
Hon. Ato however, lamented the poor interest of Nasarawa State residents in the game, pointing out that the membership of the club stood just about 20, with greater number of players from outside the state.
“The enthusiasm here is very low as most of the gulf players come from Abuja, Jos or Mukurdi. I wish to enjoin our people to get involved because the game helps to shape one’s focus,” Ato stressed.
He said that plans were underway for athletes of the Lafia Gulf Club to participate in the 2015 Olympics as part of the contingent that Nigeria will send for the Games.
