Lagos prepares for Governor’s Cup

Lagos State Amateur Golf Association (LAGA) has confirmed report on the proposed Governor’s Cup as     preparations have begun towards the state wide golf championship.
The week-long event has received the approval of the State Ministry of Sports and would be the first major activity of the Honourable Habeeb Fashinro-led LAGA since 2012.
The LAGA team which also included, former PGA Tour Chief Executive, Olusola Lawson (as Honourary Secretary), Biyi Fetuga, Akin Areola, Ibi Obatoyinbo, Seyi Badmos among others have come under huge criticism for  their inability to get golf included in the National Sports Festival, when the state hosted  in November 2012.
Although no public statement has been made to explain the exclusion of golf in the festival, until the plans for the Lagos State Governor’s Cup was concluded.
gathers that the event will be a pro-am (involving professionals and amateur) and would most likely be staged at Ikoyi Club in Lagos. 

It is expected to be funded by public-private partnership intiative.
