Tug of War Athletes honour Oba Elegushi

Tug of War Athletes across the country are girding their loins for a no-hold-bars power display come June 19th – 23th in Lagos.  The battle, which will involve both male and female Pullers, is billed to hold on the Elegushi Beach Resort, off the Lekki-Epe expressway in Lagos.
According to Abdulkareem Macaulay, Secretary-General of the Tug of War Nigeria Federation, organizers of the event, entries from across the nation which include Anambra, Edo, Plateau, Kaduna, Lagos and Rivers States have already been received.
Others include the Military/Paramilitary, Police and the Navy.  The second Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi annual National Out-Door Open Championship, is in honour and celebration of the worthy legacies of the immediate past Oba Elegushi of Ikate land and its environs.
Macaulay further stated that: “Teams have since begun preparations for the event.   This year’s ‘War’ of strength and skill has already attracted entries from more teams than the maiden edition.  It is a celebration of a Royal father, who empowered the youths and encouraged sports participation in his domain and the state in general.”

Three weight categories are expected to be featured in the three-day event.  They are the 560kg for female Pullers, 508kh for the male and 600kg weight category for mixed Pullers.
