Zamfara to host ex-Eagles in novelty match

Former Super Eagles Chief Coach, Samson Siasia will be leading other former top players of the national team to Zamfara for a high profile novelty match against Team Zamfara which will be led by the governor, Dr Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.
The novelty match is being put together as part of the activities to mark the Democracy Day celebration which is scheduled to hold later this month.
Speaking with Newswatch Sports, the organizer of the program, and the MD/CEO of Sisa International sports limited, Coach Peters Oche, said the idea of the novelty match was also meant to encourage the youth in the State who, he said had never had opportunity to see such big names in the Nigerian football.
“You see, apart from the whole idea of the novelty match we are also planning to use it to encourage youths in the state to develop more interest in sports, particularly football. And we believe that the presence of the former Super Eagles players will be a big moral boaster,”
Coach Oche said apart from Siasia who has agreed to captain his side, other players that would be present for the match include; Moses Kpakor, Tijani Babangida, Garba Lawal, Barnabas Imenger, John Zaki, Dahiru Sadi and a host of others.
He said “It is in line with the vision of His Excellency, the governor in making Zamfara a state to be reckoned with in sports in the country that we are organizing a novelty match between the executive arm of the government and some selected ex-Super Eagles players.

“We believe that football talents abound in the state and by staging the mother of all matches in Zamfara State, sports, particularly football, would receive a big boost,” he said.
